Overdue Update

How the months fly! I used to laugh at my folks when they told me time would go so much faster when I got older. Here we are at the end of March.

I've had a lot of creative things happening. I learned how to make knitted socks. I've never knit anything more than a scarf previously, but a dear friend came home and told me he found someone to teach me how to make socks. Some circular knitting needles and yarn and I was on my way.

I never thought I'd finish the first one, but I did and here is the result (proudly modeled by the recepient):

I've started my second pair and have two more friends who will get socks this year!

Off to do something creative! Tomorrow, more creative news!

An Overdue Post

I am struggling with learning how to move forward in my challenges so far. I look at the work all the other artists in the visioning project are doing and feel that I am too much of a newbie to be in their company.

I need to find the confidence to move forward. The hard thing is that the people who give me positive feed back are such dear friends that I fear their compliments are out of friendship.

What to do.....?

Changes

Change is a word that frightens many and I am feeling that fear. The good thing is that the fear is connected to a feeling of excitement and discovery.

This past weekend, I went with Main Street Ballroom to a competition in Wausau. It was not always easy to watch the dancing knowing that I may never compete again, but Peg, Don and Katie all danced well. Peg even took Top Student!

I know now that I need to really develop my creative side and find my voice as an artist. For so long, dancing has been my creative outlet. To leave it behind will not be easy, but it must happen. So now the question is--where do I go from here?

I have joined the SAQA Visioning Project for 2011 and have joined two on line challenges--Fast Friday Fabric Challenge and Artitude to stretch me over the next year.

Here's to new beginnings and moving forward!

Getting My Creative Back...

I spent a portion of my weekend dying some miscellaneous fabrics. This is something I've wanted to do for some time.
I went with some colors I wouldn't normally choose like red and orange as well as a couple of my favorites, blue and lime green. I used muslin, cotton duck, batting, dryer sheets, some cotton doilies and cheesecloth. I loved seeinghow the different fabrics took the colors in different ways. The light purple is how the dryer sheets came out using the same blue dye that is on the batting next to it. I can't wait to start using some of these fabrics to create something new. I hope to do some stamping and painting on top of what I have hear.
I also ordered an embellisher machine this weekend so I can do needle felting. It won't get to me for 5 to 10 days, so I can spend the next few weeks thinking of ideas!

New Website & Upcoming Lecture

I have the new website running. It's not as big as the old one, but it is a way for people to get information about me online. www.dancindeb.com is the new address.

I am busy preparing for a lecture on July 13th at the Log Cabin Quilters in Muskego, WI. I'll be presenting "Fun With Angelina." I'm looking forward to this night with some wonderful quilters!
